What Paint Protection Film Actually Does

Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a thermoplastic polyurethane film that is between 7.5 and 10 mils in thickness. The film is cut to the exact dimensions of your car and applied by hand to your vehicle. The thermoplastic film will absorb the impact of any road debris while leaving your car’s factory paint untouched.

Impact Absorption

The PPF film will absorb the impact of any road debris. This means your factory paint will remain untouched underneath.

Self-Healing Surface

The PPF film will naturally heal any scratches or swirl marks on the film’s surface when exposed to the heat from the sun or warm water.

Hydrophobic Top Coat

Both Stek and Inozetek PPF films contain a nano-ceramic top coat that will repel water, mud, and other road debris from the film’s surface.

Non-Yellowing Clarity

The ultraviolet (UV) stabilized PPF films from both brands will not yellow over time like the older generations of PPF. Both brands provide a 10-year warranty on their products to ensure that their PPF does not yellow over time.

The Film Is Only Half The Equation

A $6,000 PPF from Stek installed in the wrong facility will degrade faster than a $4,000 film properly installed by someone who knows the industry. At Lux Auto Studio, we take the proper care of your vehicle seriously. From the initial quote until the installation is complete on your car, we will ensure that you get the best experience and product for your vehicle.

Who PPF Is Built For

The New Car Owner

You just drove off the lot and want the paint to stay factory-perfect. PPF on a new vehicle is the most cost-effective time to install.

The NJ Commuter

You drive the Parkway, the Turnpike, or Route 9 daily. Gravel, road salt, construction debris—your front end takes a beating every commute.

The Collector

You own something worth preserving in original condition. Full-body PPF protects factory paint, maintains concours-level finish, and preserves resale value.

Living With Paint Protection Film

Hand Wash Only

Avoid automatic car washes. Use pH-neutral shampoo and a soft wash mitt. The hydrophobic top coat does most of the work.

Let The Sun Do Its Job

Light scratches self-heal with heat from the sun. Park in direct sunlight for 15–20 minutes and watch minor marks disappear.

Top It With Ceramic

Apply a ceramic coating over PPF for maximum performance—added hydrophobic layer, UV resistance, and easier maintenance.

Spot Clean Contaminants Promptly

Bird droppings, tree sap, and bug splatter should be cleaned within 24 hours.

Ceramic Coating + PPF

The ultimate combination. PPF absorbs physical impact. Ceramic coating adds permanent hydrophobic performance and UV resistance on top. Our #1 recommended pairing.

What is Paint Protection Film?

PPF is a clear, thermoplastic polyurethane film applied to your vehicle’s painted surfaces. It creates a physical barrier that absorbs rock chips, road debris, scratches, and environmental damage. Modern PPF includes self-healing technology—light scratches disappear with heat from the sun.

No. Both Stek and Inozetek use UV-stabilized, anti-yellowing adhesives. Both carry 10-year manufacturer warranties against yellowing, bubbling, cracking, and delamination.

Hand wash with pH-neutral shampoo and a microfiber mitt. Avoid automatic car washes. Remove bird droppings and sap within 24 hours. For maximum performance, apply ceramic coating over the film. We provide a full after-care guide at pickup.

Both Stek and Inozetek films are warrantied for 10 years. Real-world longevity depends on driving conditions and maintenance. With proper care, professional-grade PPF routinely lasts well beyond the warranty period.

High-quality PPF enhances your paint’s appearance. Both brands feature nano-ceramic top coats producing ultra-smooth, high-gloss finishes. Metallic flake and paint depth remain fully visible. Matte-finish films also available.

PPF is a physical film that absorbs impact—the only product that stops rock chips. Ceramic coating is a chemical bond providing hydrophobic properties and UV defense but zero impact protection. For maximum coverage, we recommend both.

Yes. PPF removes cleanly without damaging factory paint. Ideal for leased vehicles or owners who want to update coverage in the future.

After years of testing, we selected Stek and Inozetek for their superior optical clarity, liquid-applied hydrophobic top coats, self-healing performance, and 10-year warranties. Both offer matte and color-change options most competitors cannot match.

Partial front end: one day. Full front end: one to two days. Full vehicle: three to five days depending on complexity. Exact timeline confirmed during consultation.
